Robinson Helicopter developed the R44 following the success of the R22. This aircraft is an evolution of the R22, with the cabin widened to accommodate four passengers. This model is the follow-on helicopter to the R22 and R44, and unlike the previous helicopters in the series, it is the first to be equipped with a turbo shaft engine.
