Robinson Helicopter developed the R44 following the success of the R22. This aircraft is an evolution of the R22, with the cabin widened to accommodate four passengers. This model is the follow-on helicopter to the R22 and R44, and unlike the previous helicopters in the series, it is the first to be equipped with a turbo shaft engine. It does not look much different from the R44, but the cabin has been widened to accommodate five passengers and there is space for cargo. It has a maximum speed of 140 kt (259 km/h), an overall length of 11.66 m, and a height of 3.48 m.
